PAMS TRAINING

The PAMS Author (Dr. Sue McGaw) is regarded as a leading expert in the field of parenting and who has been the British Psychological Society’s spokesperson on the topic of parenting for many years.  This latest edition of the PAMS 4.0 software offers updated criteria, new parent exercises, a case file management system along with many new software functions.

The 76 page spiral bound PAMS 4.0 Instruction Book is an excellent reference and guide for the assessor to use during and after an assessment.

The PAMS Scoring Criteria is an abbreviated guide to what constitutes "adequate" parenting knowledge and practice, based on government guidance, research and professional feedback at time of print. Whilst ongoing amendments to the criteria are provided via PRINT Docs/PAMS Software Main Screen, ultimately it is the PAMS user's responsibility to update/keep current their knowledge of acceptable parenting practices.

As stated in the PAMS 3.0 "Instruction Book",
training was highly recommended in the PAMS 3.0 but this has changed in the PAMS 4.0 to "PAMS training is needed for anyone who purchased the licence and intends to use the PAMS assessment with families".
Anyone who is PAMS 3.0 trained should be able to use the PAMS 4.0 without further training. Ultimately, organisations, agencies and individuals hold the responsibility for ensuring that they are PAMS 4.0 trained when they use PAMS 4.0 materials.

Training is provided at an Open 2 Day Introductory Workshop (usually at the Northampton Marriott) or "in house" when organisations commission a 2 Day Introductory Workshop for delivery at a venue of their choice.  We have PAMS Trainers based around the UK so travelling to venues is not a problem.  These workshops will be of interest to social workers, family support workers, psychologists, health visitors, midwives, solicitors, children’s guardians, family mediators, judges, magistrates.
